We are witness to extraordinary events that are taking place within the

Information Technology and Health Care Private Practice environments. 

In early 2009, the U.S. Government, in an effort to encourage Health Care

Providers to further evolve to universal electronic medical and health records,

announced an incentive program that provides funds, in the form of Medicare and

Medicaid bonuses, to Private Practice Physicians. 

These funds are to be used as reimbursement toward the overall purchase price of

software applications and annual recurring costs. 

At the same time, there is also cursory discussion of punitive measures that

include decreases in claim reimbursement as a result of not having implemented

an electronic medical or heath records system or implementing a system that does

not adhere to the “Meaningful Use” and HIPAA criteria.
